Physical Education's Emergency Action Plans
Disclaimer: The Westbrook Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) has been developed to ensure a safe and efficient response in the event of a medical emergency during physical education classes or related school activities. This plan is intended to protect the health and safety of students, staff, and visitors by outlining clear procedures and responsibilities in emergency situations. While no plan can predict every possible emergency, the EAPs are designed to minimize risk, coordinate timely responses, and ensure rapid communication with emergency medical services, parents or guardians, and appropriate school personnel. It includes protocols for responding to serious injuries, medical emergencies, and other critical incidents, as well as detailed information about emergency contacts, equipment, and location-specific procedures. The EAPs are reviewed annually and updated as needed to reflect best practices and current resources. All physical education staff are trained in CPR, First Aid, AED use, and Stop the Bleed protocols, and are required to familiarize themselves with the EAP to act effectively during an emergency.
